Openings masterbatch (anti-sticking masterbatch) is widely used in fields such as plastic films and packaging materials. Its main function is to prevent the films from sticking together during winding, storage and usage, ensuring smooth openings. As a purchaser, the two things you are most concerned about are: whether the opening effect is stable or not, and whether it has any impact on the appearance of the films. Below, from the production perspective, we will introduce how we control these two aspects. 

I. Raw Material Selection and Formula Design

The performance of the open-melt masterbatch is primarily determined by the combination of anti-adhesion agent type, carrier resin, and dispersion system. 

Anti-adhesion agent selection: Based on the application and transparency requirements of the film, different particle sizes and types of opening agents (such as inorganic minerals or organic microbeads) are selected. For films with high transparency, we will match the opening agent varieties with similar refractive indices. 

Carrier matching: Based on the substrate of the customer's film (such as PE, PP, etc.), select the corresponding carrier resin to ensure good compatibility and without affecting the mechanical properties of the film. 

Dispersion system: Through the rational combination of additives and the design of twin-screw process, the dispersant is evenly distributed in the masterbatch to avoid agglomeration that may cause crystalline points or white spots. 

It should be noted that the addition ratio of the opening masterbatch varies depending on the thickness and material of the film. We will provide reference addition amounts based on your specific process, rather than applying a uniform scheme. 

II. Dispersion Uniformity and Process Control

Open-melt compounded materials are most prone to unstable opening effects or poor dispersion, which can affect the appearance of the film. In our production process, we pay attention to the following aspects: 

Double screw mixing: Use the appropriate screw combination and processing temperature to ensure that the anti-adhesive agent fully depolymerizes in the carrier and is distributed evenly. 

Filtering system: During the production process, appropriate mesh size filters are installed to remove any possible agglomerated particles or impurities, thereby reducing the risk of crystal points. 

Batch retention samples and comparison: Samples are retained for each batch of products. During the production of the next batch, the retained samples from the previous batch will be used for tablet pressing comparison to observe the haze and opening effect, ensuring the stability between batches. 

Furthermore, for the multi-functional combined requirements such as anti-static and opening, we can achieve the combined functions within the same masterbatch, thereby reducing the number of types that customers need to add on-site.

When purchasing open masterbatch or functional masterbatch, it is recommended to follow the following steps for confirmation: 

Clarify the requirements for the film: types of base materials, film thickness, whether high transparency is needed, and whether there are any requirements for composite functions (such as anti-static properties). 

Request to sample and conduct blow testing: Run the machine for film blowing test, observe whether the opening effect is uniform and whether there are any crystal points or white spots on the film surface. 

Confirm the addition ratio: Based on the test results, determine the appropriate addition amount for your process, balancing the opening effect with cost.
