Composition of components


Pigments or dyes: They are the core substances that give colors to products and can be classified into organic pigments and inorganic pigments. Commonly used organic pigments include phthalocyanine red, phthalocyanine blue, phthalocyanine green, etc., while inorganic pigments include cadmium red, cadmium yellow, titanium dioxide, carbon black, etc.


Carrier: It is the base of the color masterbatch. Generally, the same resin as the product resin is selected as the carrier, and the compatibility between the two is the best. At the same time, the fluidity of the carrier should also be considered, such as polyethylene, polypropylene, etc.


Dispersant: Its function is to promote the uniform dispersion of pigments and prevent them from coagulating. Its melting point should be lower than that of the resin, and it should have good compatibility with the resin and a good affinity for pigments. The most commonly used dispersants are low-molecular-weight polyethylene wax and stearate.


Additives: such as flame-retardant, brightening, antibacterial, antistatic, antioxidant and other varieties. Unless requested by the customer, the above-mentioned additives are generally not contained in the color masterbatch.

Characteristics


Excellent dispersibility: By adopting advanced production techniques and highly efficient dispersants, pigments are uniformly dispersed in the carrier resin. When mixed and processed with the base material, it can ensure uniform color distribution and avoid problems such as color spots and color patches.


High stability: It has good heat resistance, light resistance and weather resistance, can withstand high-temperature conditions in different processing techniques, and the color is not easy to fade. Some high-quality masterbatches also have migration resistance and are less likely to contaminate other items that come into contact with them.


Good compatibility: It has excellent compatibility with various base materials and can play a role in different types of plastic, rubber, chemical fiber and other products without affecting the physical properties and processing performance of the base.


Classification


General-purpose color masterbatch: Suitable for a variety of plastic substrates, it has wide applicability and can be used for coloring various plastics such as polyethylene, polypropylene, and polystyrene.


Specialized color masterbatches: Designed for specific plastic substrates, they offer better compatibility and coloring effects. For instance, specialized color masterbatches for polypropylene exhibit superior coloring performance and stability in polypropylene products.


Functional color masterbatch: In addition to the coloring function, it also has specific functions, such as UV resistance, anti-static, flame retardancy, etc. Uv resistance color masterbatch can effectively prevent plastic products from aging and discoloring when used outdoors.


Application field


Plastic industry: Widely used in various plastic products, such as plastic films, plastic pipes, home appliance casings, automotive interior parts, etc. Adding anti-ultraviolet functional color masterbatches to plastic films can extend their service life. The casing of household appliances uses high-gloss and anti-static functional color masterbatches, which not only enhance the appearance texture but also prevent dust adhesion.
